ヒトで起こる光感作性接触皮膚炎を的確に反映しうる動物試験法をモルモットを用いて検討した。ここでの試験法はフロイント完全アジュバントを皮内注射することにより動物の感受性を高めると同時に, 角質層をセロファンテープでストリップして被験物質および光線の皮内への透過性を高めている。また, 中波長紫外線(280∼320nm)の照射の必要性にも検討を加え, 長波長紫外線のみでも光感作が成立することを確認した。この試験法によつて, 従来動物を用いた実験系で光感作性を捕えることの難かしかつた6-methyl coumarinおよびbithionolの光感作反応を的確に捕えることが出来た。また, 6-methyl coumarinとbithionolの最大吸収波長は276nmと308nmにあり, 今回実験に用いた長波長紫外線は320∼400nm(λmax=360nm)であることより, かならずしも物質の最大吸収波長と照射波長が一致する必要のないことを示唆する結果をえた。
