تشنج تخلیه الکتریکی غیرطبیعی گروهی از نورونهای مغز است که بهطور موقت باعث اختلال در عملکرد طبیعی مغز میشود. ریحان ازجمله گیاهان دارویی است که در طب سنتی به اثرات مختلف دارویی آن اشارهشده است.در مطالعه حاضر اثر عصاره هیدرو الکلی ریحان بر تشنج ناشی از نیکوتین موردبررسی قرارگرفته است. در این مطالعه از موش سفید کوچک از نژاد N.MARIدر محدوده وزنی 30- 25 گرم استفاده گردید.حیوانات بهطور تصادفی در 7گروه 8 تایی قرار گرفتند. گروههای تحت آزمایش دوزهای مختلف صفاقی (mg/kg1600، 1200، 800، 400 ) عصاره هیدرو الکلی ریحان، گروه کنترل مثبت دیازپام (mg/kg15 /0) و گروه کنترل منفی سرم فیزیولوژی (ml/kg10) نیم ساعت قبل از تزریق نیکوتین(mg/kg 5) از طریق داخل صفایی دریافت نمودند. سپس فاکتورهایی چون شروع تشنج ، دوام تشنج وشدت تشنج مورد مطالعه قرار گرفت.پسازآن مطالعه زمان –پاسخ برای دقایق 15،30،45،60دقیقه( قبل از تزریق نیکوتین) برای بهترین دوز عصاره صورت پذیرفت. در این مطالعه اثر ضد تشنج عصاره هیدرو الکلی ریحان بهصورت وابسته به دوز روی زمان شروع تشنج، دوام تشنج و شدت تشنج مؤثر بود. بهترین دوز عصارهmg/kg 1200 و بهترین زمان کاربرد عصاره 30 دقیقه قبل از نیکوتین محاسبه شد.
Convulsion is defined as the abnormal electrical discharge of a group of brain neurons causing a temporary disorder in the normal activity of brain. Basil (Ocimum basilicum) is an herb with remedial effects cited in traditional medicine. This study evaluates the effect of basil hydroalcoholic extract on nicotine-induced convulsion The N.MARI mice with the range of 25-30 gram were studied.The mice were randomly divided in to 7 groups of 8.The test group received hydroalcoholic extract of Ocimum basilicum(400, 800, 1200& 1600mg/kg, ip, respectively),The positive group received Diazepam (0.15 mg/kg) and negative group received Normal Salin (10 mg/kg)30 minute before injecting nicotine(5 mg/kg,ip)). Then, latency, duration and intensity of convulsion were studied. When the most effective dose of basil was determined, the extract was injected 15, 30, 45 & 60 min before receiving nicotine in order to find the best time of injection. In this study anticonvulsant effect of hydroalcoholic extract of ocimum basilicum was effective on duration of convulsion, duration of convulsion and intensity of convulsion.The best dose of extract was 1200 mg/kg and the best time of using nicotine was 30 minute before injectine nicotine.
