مقدمه :طویل شدن مجموعه استایلوئید زمانی اطلاق میشود که طول زائده استایلوئید به همراه لیگامان استایلوهیوئید استخوانی شده بیشتر از 25 میلیمتر باشد که میتواند باعث بروز علائمی نظیر سردرد ودردهای صورتی و دیسفاژی شود. هدف از این مطالعه بررسی میزان طویل شدن و فراوانی شیوع علائم بر اساس سن و جنس و میزان استخوانی شدن در افراد دارای مجموعه استایلوئید طویل شده هستند. روش بررسی:در این پژوهش توصیفی – مقطعی ، رادیوگرافی های پانورامیکبیماران مراجعه کننده به کلینیک دانشکده دندانپزشکی اهواز در سال 1391 تا 1392 مورد بررسی قرار گرفت و بیماران دارایمجموعه استایلوئیدبا طول بیشتر از 25 میلیمتر وارد مطالعه شدند و در گروههای سنی متفاوت تقسیم شدند و از طریق پرسشنامه جهت وجود علایم بالینی مورد بررسی قرار گرفتند. نتایج: از افراد شرکت کننده در پژوهش 66.4 درصد زن و 33.6 درصد مرد بودند.میانگین طول زائده استایلوهیوئید سمت چپ در زنان 30.27میلیمتر, سمت راست 31میلیمتر و در مردان به ترتیب 30.34 و 29.61 میلیمتربود که تفاوت معنی داری بین سمت گرفتار و زنان و مردان وجود نداشت(p value>0.05). طول زائده استایلوئید در زنان با افزایش سن به طور معنی داری افزایش یافت ودر گروه سنی بالای 55 سال بیشتر از سایر گروهها بود(p value<0.05) ولی در مردان تفاوت معنی داری وجود نداشت. نتیجه گیری:بر اساس این پژوهش فراوانی افراد علامتدار کم بود که در زنان نسبت به مردان از میزان بیشتری برخوردار بود همچنین ارتباط خاصی بین میزان کلسیفیکاسیون و وجود علایم بالینی وجود نداشت و از توزیع جنسی یکنواختی برخوردار بود.
Background: Elongation of the stylohyoid process refers to styloid process with ossificated stylohyoid ligament longerthan 25 mm, which can causes symptoms such as headache, facial pain and dysphagia. The Purpose of this study was to investigate the prevalence of elongation and frequency of symptom based on age, sex and degree of ossification in patients with elongated stylohyoid process. Methods: In this descriptive cross – sectionalstudy , panoramic radiographs of patients that were refered to clinic of dental school in Ahvaz at 1391 to 1392 were examined.Patients with stylohyoid complexlonger than 25 mm were enrolled into study and divided into different age groups .questionnaires were used to determine presence of clinical symptoms. Results: Participants consisted of 66.4% female and 33.6% male. The average lengths of stylohyoid process in females were 30.27 mm in left side and 31 mm in right side.The average lengths of stylohyoid process in males were 30.34 mm in left side and 29.61 mm in right side and males.No significant difference was found between the gender and affected side(p value>0.05) lengths of stylohyoid process significantly increased in women with increasing age and in the age group over 55 years was more than other groups(p value<0.05)but there was no significant difference between age and lengths of stylohyoid in male. Conclusion: based on This study frequency of symptomatic individuals was low and presence of symptoms was higher in females compared to males alsothere was no special relationship between the amount of calcification and clinical symptoms and the gender distribution was uniform.
