There was a significant rise in amniotic fluid progesterone concentration in pregnancies with very severe fetal erythroblastosis and patients with hepatosis gravidarum showed a tendency towards high values both in ammiotic fluid and in plasma.

Total Protein Content in Amniotic Fluid from Normal Pregnancies and from Pregnancies Complicated by Rh‐Isoimmunization

The results showed that the total protein content is elevated in cases of mild and of very serious fetal disease, and protein estimations will be of limited value in the practical management of isoimmunized pregnancies.

The Clinical Value of Amniotic Fluid Analysis in Pregnancies Complicated by RH‐Isoimmunization or Hepatosis

Determinations of acid and alkaline phosphatases in amniotic fluid do not give any clinically important information in cases of isoimmunization, and a rather weak correlation between infant cord blood haemoglobin levels and the other parameters.

Plasma Progesterone Levels in Normal and Abnormal Pregnancies

Abstract. Plasma progesterone levels were estimated by competitive protein binding in 815 samples from healthy pregnant women with uncomplicated pregnancies. This series includes 32 patients who were

Free Zone Electrophoresis of Amniotic Fluid in Normal Pregnancies and in Pregnancies Complicated by Haemolytic Disease

A high nonprotein peak in the patterns from amniotic fluid was found to consist mainly of uric acid, and was positively correlated with infant birth weight and negatively correlated with concentrations of albumin and total protein in normal pregnancies.

Amniocentesis and Antenatal Sex Determination in the Rhesus Monkey <i>(Macaca mulatta)</i><link href="#jmp01113-note-0001">1</link>

Antenatal sex was correctly identified in 87.5% of the rhesus monkeys studied by evaluation of sex chromatin bodies in the exfoliated cells present in amniotic fluid. Fluid samples were obtained by

CONCOMITANT SECRETION OF SCHWANGERSCHAFTSPROTEIN 1 AND HUMAN CHORIONIC GONADOTROPHIN FOLLOWING CONCEPTION

It is concluded that SP1 and hCG are secreted simultaneously but independently by the syncytiotrophoblast.

Steroids in human intrauterine fluids of early pregnancy

OBJECTIVE Little is known of the hormone environment of the developing early human embryo. We have therefore measured selected steroids in the intrauterine fluids of early pregnancy.

Selected developments in the understanding of diabetic ketoacidosis.

Intravenous doses of insulin as low as 5 to 15 U/h are sufficient in most cases, but the occasional patient will require larger amounts, and close clinical and biochemical monitoring is necessary for successful management.

Serum Proteins in Amniotic Fluids in Erythroblastosis Fetalis

Twelve serum proteins in amniotic fluids and in corresponding maternal sera from 18 Rh sensitized gravidas were studied by radial immunodiffusion. No changes in the concentration of any of the

PLACENTAL HORMONE ACTIVITY AFTER REMOVAL OF THE FETUS IN A CASE OF ADVANCED ABDOMINAL PREGNANCY

The problems under consideration were whether the presence of a living fetus is essential for the secretion of oestrogens, progesterone and chorionic gonadotrophin, and what are the relative roles of the fetus and the placenta in their production.

Protein Content of Liquor Amnii in Prediction of Severity of Haemolytic Disease of Newborn

Two series of cases of Rh isoimmunization were subjected to liquor examination for bilirubin and protein level, and relations with severity of haemolytic disease in the foetus was made, taking into account the stage of gestation of liquor examination.

Isolation and quantitation of steroids from normal human amniotic fluid.

Eight steroids have been isolated and quantitated from a pool of 4000 ml of amniotic fluid collected from pregnant women immediately prior to delivery, with the exception of pregnanediol and estriol.

Jaundice During Pregnancy

The overall figure is 557 cases of jaundice in 822,842 pregnancies, an incidence of 0.067 % or 7 cases per 10,000 pregnancies, or 1 case per 1,500 pregnancies.

Some studies of the protein-binding of steroids and their application to the routine micro and ultramicro measurement of various steroids in body fluids by competitive protein-binding radioassay.

A 100-fold increase in sensitivity has now been achieved by using tritiated steroids in place of 14C-labeled steroids, by utilizing the CBG's of species other than man, and by using adsorption in Place of dialysis or gel filtration.
