BACE1 (beta-secretase) inhibitory chromone glycosides from Aloe vera and Aloe nobilis.
- Liang LvQing-Yun Yang W. Fang
- 1 April 2008
Chemistry, Medicine
Four new chromone glycosides allo-aloeresin D (2) and 8 showed significant inhibitory activity against BACE1 (beta-secretase) with IC (50) values of 39.0 and 20.3 %, respectively, in B103 neuroblastoma cells at 30 ppm.
Kaempferol attenuates the glutamate-induced oxidative stress in mouse-derived hippocampal neuronal HT22 cells.
- E. YangGeum-soog KimMira JunK. Song
- 24 June 2014
Medicine, Environmental Science
The findings demonstrate that KF may be a useful candidate for pharmacological therapies that can prevent and treat neurodegenerative diseases such as Alzheimer's disease (AD), and revealed that the neuroprotective effects of KF are a result of the regulation of the expression levels of proteins.
Anti-inflammatory Effects of Oleanolic Acid on LPS-Induced Inflammation In Vitro and In Vivo
- Wonhwa LeeE. YangS. KuK. SongJ. Bae
- 9 August 2012
Medicine
It is suggested that OA has anti-inflammatory effects by inhibiting hyperpermeability, the expression of CAMs, and the adhesion and migration of leukocytes, thereby endorsing its usefulness as a therapeutic agent for vascular inflammatory diseases.
Isolation, Synthesis, and Antisepsis Effects of a C-Methylcoumarinochromone Isolated from Abronia nana Cell Culture.
- Wonhwa LeeDoo-ku Lee J. Bae
- 15 May 2018
Medicine, Chemistry
Results suggested that a new C-methylcoumarinochromone isolated from Abronia nana suspension cultures might have potential therapeutic activity against various severe vascular inflammatory diseases via inhibition of the HMGB1 signaling pathway.
Simultaneous Determination and Pharmacokinetic Characterization of Glycyrrhizin, Isoliquiritigenin, Liquiritigenin, and Liquiritin in Rat Plasma Following Oral Administration of Glycyrrhizae Radix…
- Y. HanBitna KangE. YangMin‐Koo ChoiI. Song
- 1 May 2019
Medicine, Chemistry
The analytical method developed could be successfully applied to investigate their pharmacokinetic properties in rats and would be useful for conducting further studies on the efficacy, toxicity, and biopharmaceutics of GREs and their marker components.
Protective effects of onion-derived quercetin on glutamate-mediated hippocampal neuronal cell death
- E. YangGeum-soog KimJeong Ah KimK. Song
- 1 October 2013
Medicine, Environmental Science
Quercetin had a protective effect by reducing both intracellular ROS overproduction and glutamate-mediated Ca2+ influx, and suppressed phosphorylation of MAPKs, which may be useful for preventing or treating neurodegenerative disorders.
Isoliquiritigenin isolated from Glycyrrhiza uralensis protects neuronal cells against glutamate-induced mitochondrial dysfunction.
- E. YangJ. Min Dong-Seok Lee
- 18 May 2012
Medicine, Environmental Science
It is demonstrated that isoliquiritigenin isolated from Glycyrrhiza uralensis (Gu), one of the most frequently prescribed oriental herbal medicines, protected HT22 hippocampal neuronal cells from glutamate-induced oxidative stress and the results suggest that ISL may protect against mitochondrial dysfunction by limiting glutamate- induced oxidative stress.
Barrier protective effects of rosmarinic acid on HMGB1‐induced inflammatory responses in vitro and in vivo
High mobility group box 1 (HMGB1) protein is a crucial cytokine that mediates response to infection, injury, and inflammation and RA should be viewed as a candidate therapeutic agent for the treatment of various inflammatory diseases via inhibition of the HMGB1 signaling pathway.
Syringin from stem bark of Fraxinus rhynchophylla protects Aβ(25–35)-induced toxicity in neuronal cells
- E. YangSang-In Kim K. Song
- 27 April 2010
Medicine, Biology
Results suggest that F. rhynchophylla and syringin are expected to be useful for preventing Aβ(25–35)-induced neuronal cell damage and the neuroprotective effect of syring in seemed to be originated from the reduction of apoptosis.
Neuroprotective effects of liquiritigenin isolated from licorice roots on glutamate-induced apoptosis in hippocampal neuronal cells.
- E. YangGyu Hwan ParkK. Song
- 1 December 2013
Medicine, Biology
Liquiritigenin effectively reduced glutamate-induced early apoptosis through inhibition of Ca(2+) influx, intracellular reactive oxygen species (ROS) production, and lipid peroxidation, and suppressed not only the release of apoptosis-inducing factor (AIF), but also activation of mitogen-activated protein kinases (MAPKs).
