イネいもち病に有効な数種殺菌剤のいもち病菌の侵入に対する影響を, セロファン膜を用いて検討した. 植物細胞壁のモデルとして用いたセロファン膜上で, いもち病菌胞子は発芽し, 宿主上と同様に付着器から侵入糸によって膜内に侵入した (付着器侵入) が, 付着器を形成しないで侵入する (菌糸侵入) ものも観察された. このように異なった2種の侵入様式に対して同程度に阻止する薬剤もあったが, ある薬剤は菌糸侵入をまったく阻止せず, 付着器侵入を特異的に阻止した. この薬剤については, 胞子発芽, 付着器形成および菌糸生育のいずれに対しても影響のないことがすでに知られている. In vitro で検討された抗菌力のうち付着器侵入阻止力が, いずれの薬剤の場合にも, 葉鞘検定による結果と有効濃度の点でよく一致しており, 防除効果を説明しうるようであった.
