The temperature profile in a circular tube of infinite extent through which a fluid is moving under conditions of small Peclet numberse is determined by means of an asymptotic analysis ine. The walls of the tube are heated forx>0 and are insulated whenx<0. It is shown that the heated region extends anO(e −1) distance — relative to the radius of the tube — upstream of the pointx=0, and that convective effects remain important even whene→0. These results apply to a wider class of problems in…

An approximate numerical solution to the Graetz problem with constant wall temperature

A numerical method was developed, for visualisation of the temperature profile in the fluid flow, whose strategy of calculation is based on the orthogonal collocation method followed by the finite difference method (Crank-Nicholson method).

SOLUTIONS TO THE EXTENDED GRAETZ PROBLEM FOR A POWER-MODEL FLUID WITH VISCOUS DISSIPATION AND DIFFERENT ENTRANCE BOUNDARY CONDITIONS

The transport phenomena of the extended Graetz problem with three different entrance boundary conditions are discussed. The expansion coefficients of the solution corresponding to the different

Analysis of heat transfer and entropy generation for a low-Peclet-number microtube flow using a second-order slip model: an extended-Graetz problem

The classical Graetz problem, which is the problem of the hydrodynamically developed, thermally developing laminar flow of an incompressible fluid inside a tube neglecting axial conduction and

Solution of low Pe´clet number heat transfer with viscous dissipation in the infinite axial region between parallel plates via functional analytic methods

Abstract Functional analytic methods have been applied to the analysis of the extended Graetz problem with prescribed wall flux and viscous dissipation between parallel plates. First, the

Numerical solution of extended graetz problem by orthogonal collocation and crank-nicholson method

The present set of themes related to the investigations of heat transfer by convection and the transport phenomenon in a cylindrical pipe in laminar flow, which is to explore the evolution of the

A computation for the boundary value problem of a double-tube heat exchanger

The boundary value problems of u low Pielet number flow in a double-tube heat exchanger for an arbitrary velocity profile are analyzed by linear operator methods. The induced eigen equation, of which

Numerical study of heat transfer in fully developed laminar flow inside a circular tube

This numerical study is aimed at investigating the convective heat transfer and flow fluid inside a horizontal circular tube in a fully developed laminar flow regime under a constant wall temperature

The extended Graetz problem with Dirichlet wall boundary conditions

The extension of the Graetz problem to include axial conduction has been of interest in view of its application to a number of low Peclet number heat or mass transfer situations. Past efforts in
