Powder X-ray diffraction experiments of the antiferroelectric PbHfO 3 were performed between 8K and 525K using a conventional X-ray generator and a synchrotron radiation. Antiferroelectric superlattice reflections and reflections at R-point appeared below 435K on heating. Reflections associated with a large cell volume appeared between 435K and 480K instead of the antiferroelectric reflection. The reflections at R-point remained in the intermediate phase. Lattice distortions and superlattice…

Analysis of Structures and Order Parameters in Antiferroelectric PbHfO3 Using Neutron Diffraction

We performed structural analysis of PbHfO 3 between 10 and 500 K in the room-temperature antiferroelectric phase and the cubic phase using powder neutron diffraction. Disordered arrangements of Pb

Lattice dynamics in the paraelectric phase of PbHfO3 studied by inelastic x-ray scattering

The static susceptibility with respect to the generally incommensurate modulations is shown to increase on cooling for the entire Γ-M direction, and different approaches to the data analysis that correspond to different models for the temperature evolution of the dynamic susceptibility function are considered.

Sequence of phase transitions in PbHfO3

The temperature changes in the PbHfO3 structure in the temperature range of 20 < t < 400°C have been studied by X-ray powder diffraction. The sequence of phase changes with an increase in temperature

Temperature Dependence of Structures and Order Parameters in Antiferroelectric PbHfO3

Structures of PbHfO3 between 100 K and 500 K were analyzed by Rietveld method using synchrotron radiation. Disordered arrangement of Pb atoms in the cubic phase was found as in PbZrO3. The average of

Phase transitions and interrelated instabilities in PbHfO3 single crystals

The intermediate phase is found to have the polar nature confirmed by P-E hysteresis loop measurements, which is another manifestation of the competition between interrelated instabilities, namely a polar one and an antiferroelectric one.

A Study of Structures and Order Parameters in Antiferroelectric PbHfO3 by Synchrotron Radiation

We present structures of PbHfO 3 between 100 and 525 K analyzed by a Rietveld method using synchrotron radiation. Spontaneous strain of a perovskite sublattice could be excellently expressed by a c...

Structure and phase transitions of lead zirconate hafnate solid solutions

Solid solutions of two antiferroelectrics, namely, lead zirconate and lead hafnate, i.e., PbZr1 − xHfxO3 (x = 0, 0.3, 0.5, 0.7, 1.0), have been prepared by solid-phase synthesis from simple oxides.
