The hardware platform of video encoding and decoding based on the TMS320DM642 is designed and constructed, the DSP implementation of H.264 video compression standard is discussed in the paper and it is verified that the proposed video encoder can distinctly reduce the computational complexity and increase encoding speed with little quality loss of the rebuild image.

Hardware Software Co-design of H.264 Baseline Encoder on Coarse-Grained Dynamically Reconfigurable Computing System-on-Chip

Experimental results prove that the REMUSMB (REMUS-II version for mobile applications) system can perform a real-time H.264/AVC baseline profile encoder, which is believed to be the first implementation of H. 264 encoding algorithm on a coarse-grained dynamically reconfigurable computing system.

Overview of the H.264/AVC video coding standard

An overview of the technical features of H.264/AVC is provided, profiles and applications for the standard are described, and the history of the standardization process is outlined.

Rate-constrained coder control and comparison of video coding standards

A unified approach to the coder control of video coding standards such as MPEG-2, H.263, MPEG-4, and the draft video coding standard H.264/AVC (advanced video coding) is presented. The performance of…

Advanced video coding

Advanced video coding techniques will allow broadcasters to improve the efficiency offered by MPEG-2 digital TV systems by up to 75%, according to the ITU/MPEG Joint Video Team.
