Paramagnetic Nd60Co40-xAlx(x=5, 10, 15) bulk metallic glasses (BMGs) were prepared in the shape of rods 2 mm in diameter by suction casting. The ternary alloys have shown distinct glass transitions in Differential Scanning Calorimetry (DSC) measurements and excellent glass-forming ability. The glass transition and crystallization behaviors as well as their kinetics have been studied. The reduced glass transition temperature and the supercooled liquid region of the alloys were found to increase…

Evaluation of the thermal stability of Nd60Al20Co20 bulk metallic glass

Long-term thermal stability of Nd60Al20Co20 bulk metallic glass (BMG) with excellent glass forming ability was investigated by Kissinger and Vogel-Fulcher-Tammann (VFT) analyses, respectively. The

Nd65Al10Fe25-xCox (x=0,5,10) bulk metallic glasses with wide supercooled liquid regions

Bulk metallic glasses of Nd65Al10Fe25-xCox (x=0,5,10) have been prepared in the form of 3 mm diam rods. Results of differential scanning calrimetry, dynamic mechanical thermal analysis (DMTA), and

Formation of bulk metallic glasses in neodymium-based alloys

Abstract Bulk amorphous Nd-A1-TM (TM [tbnd] transition metal) alloy rods with diameters up to 6 mm have been produced using a mould-casting method. X-ray and electron diffraction experiments reveal

Microstructure and Magnetic Properties of Nd60Al10Fe20Co10 Glass-forming Alloy

The microstructural variations of the Nd60Al10Fe20Co10 melt-spun ribbons and the as-cast rod were studied by high resolution transmission electron microscopy (HRTEM), x-ray diffraction (XRD) and

Glass-forming Ability and Magnetic Properties of Nd_70−xFe_20Al_10Co_x Alloys

The influence of Co addition on the glass-forming ability of slowly cooled Nd_70- x Fe_20Al_10Co_ x alloys (0 ≤ x ≤ 10) was studied by x-ray diffraction, constant-rate heating calorimetry, and

Microstructure-controlled magnetic properties of the bulk glass-forming alloy Nd60Fe30Al10

We report a combination of analytical transmission electron microscopy, small angle neutron scattering, and studies of magnetic properties of the glass-forming alloy Nd60Fe30Al10. These

Primary crystallization and hard magnetic properties of Nd60Al10Fe20Co10 metallic glasses

The primary crystallization in Nd60Al10Fe20Co10 ribbons and its effect on magnetic properties are investigated by means of DSC, x-ray diffraction, vibrating sample magnetometer and high-resolution
