It is shown that a decrease in the rhizosphere temperature for self-sawn Pinus sylvestris causes not only a change in the morphogenesis of the sprouts of the current year and reduction of the annual ring but also a shift of the natural dynamics of antioxidant enzyme activity to a later time.

MODULATION OF ADVERSE IMPACT OF CHILLING IN VICIA FABA L . BY METHYL JASMONATE INVOLVES CHANGES IN ANTIOXIDANT METABOLISM AND METABOLITES

Application of methyl jasmonate was observed to maintain optimal levels of abscissic acid and salicylic acid resulting in coordinated regulation of defence mechanisms against chilling stress and significantly enhanced activity of antioxidant enzymes.

Cold-induced changes of enzymes, proline, carbohydrates, and chlorophyll in wheat

The results showed significant low temperature (LT)-induced accumulation of total soluble proteins, proline, and carbohydrates and elevation in activities of CAT and POD in leaves of SCH and CH winter cultivars rather than in LCH spring cultivar, and the chlorophyll fluorescence (Fv/Fm) declined during LT treatment irrespective of cultivar.

Developmental regulation of metabolites and low temperature tolerance in lines of crosses between spring and winter wheat

Significant correlations coefficients for many of the metabolites considered in this study suggest that they could be useful as indirect measures of plant LT tolerance potential in wheat breeding programs.

Seasonal changes in antioxidant level of Scots pine (Pinus sylvestris L.) needles exposed to industrial pollution. II. Enzymatic scavengers activities

The involvement of enzymic antioxidant system, superoxide dismutase, guaiacol peroxidase, ascorbate peroxidase in defense reaction to environmental stress evoked by air and soil pollution, was

Multiple forms of extracellular superoxide dismutase in needles, stem tissues and seedlings of Scots pine

which is involved in lignification of cell walls, defence reactions against microbial infecExtracellular superoxide dismutase was found in extra- tions and cross-linking of structural xylematic bark tissues and seedlings of Pinus syl- proteins of the cell wall was found.

Early effects of boron deficiency on indoleacetic Acid oxidase levels of squash root tips.

IAA treatment of +B plants increased IAA oxidase activity of apical and subapical root sections and also inhibited root elongation and caused symptoms similar to -B treatments, demonstrating the earliest enzymic change for intact boron-deficient plants.

Changes in Lipid Peroxidation and Lipolytic and Free-Radical Scavenging Enzyme Activities during Aging and Sprouting of Potato (Solanum tuberosum) Seed-Tubers

Results suggest that a gradual build-up of FRs leads to peroxidative damage of membrane lipids during aging of potato seed-tubers.

Catalase peroxidase and IAA‐oxidase activities and O‐diphenolics contents in sunflower leaves grown with different boron levels

Abstract Cataiase, peroxidase and IAA‐oxidase activities, so as odiphenolics content in sunflower leaves grown in hydroponics with 4 B levels (0.05; 0.25; 0.5 and 2.0 ppm) were determined. The

The transcript levels of hipI-SOD and cytosolic SOD were found to respond differently to mechanical wounding, treatment with oxidized glutathione, paraquat, and ozone, and high protein density was also detected in extracellular spaces such as secondary cell wall thickenings of the xylem and sclerenchyma and in intercellular spaces of parenchyma cells.
