In the present study, the turbulent boundary layer on a porous wall with transpiration is analysed. The relations between the velocity profiles within the sublayers and the transpiration velocity are predicted and an equation for the intersection point of the profiles of the viscous sublayer and the turbulent sublayer is proposed. The results of the present analysis are compared with the experimental data and a good agreement is found.

Distribution of mean velocity in turbulent boundary layer over permeable surface with air blowing

In the present article, we investigate the possibility of using simple physical models for predicting properties of incompressible turbulent boundary layer on permeable wall at various values of

Direct simulation of a turbulent boundary layer up to Rθ = 1410

The turbulent boundary layer on a flat plate, with zero pressure gradient, is simulated numerically at four stations between Rθ = 225 and Rθ = 1410. The three-dimensional time-dependent Navier-Stokes

Direct simulation of a turbulent boundary layer up to R(sub)(theta)= 1410

The turbulent boundary layer on a flat plate, with zero pressure gradient, is simulated numerically at four stations between R sub theta = 225 and R sub theta = 1410. The three-dimensional

Experimental and numerical study of a turbulent boundary layer with pressure gradients

The boundary layer develops along a flat plate with a Reynolds number high enough to sustain turbulence and allow accurate experimental measurements, but low enough to allow a direct numerical

Boundary Layer Theory

This text is the translation and revision of Schlichting's classic text in boundary layer theory. The main areas covered are laws of motion for a viscous fluid, laminar boundary layers, transition

The velocity and vorticity vector fields of a turbulent boundary layer. Part 2. Statistical properties

Many of the statistical properties of both the velocity and the vorticity fields of a nominally zero-pressure-gradient turbulent boundary layer at Rδ = 27650 (Rθ = 2685) have been simultaneously

The structure of turbulent boundary layers at low Reynolds numbers

Conditionally sampled hot-wire and ‘cold-wire’ (resistance-thermometer) measure- ments confirm the general flow picture advanced by Falco (1974, 1977, 1980; see also Smith & Abbott 1978) and by Head

Momentum transfer in boundary layers

Too many books on fluid mechanics are written on the strength of original material which makes up one chapter or less; the remainder being a restatement of the familiar contents of other books. This
