The karyotypes were very similar to each other among the above species, and comparision between sections was more important than that between species.

Karyomorphology of the endangered Trigonobalanus doichangensis (A. Camus) Forman (Fagaceae) and its taxonomic and biogeographical implications

Karyotype variation among the populations at the diploid level was limited, but there were some distinguishing cytological characters and the genus should not be segregated into three monotypic genera.

POLYPLOIDY IN THE FLORA OF THE HENGDUAN MOUNTAINS HOTSPOT

Examples from other large plant groups and endemic genera indicated that polyploidy, especially infrageneric polyploidsy, may have played a minor role in the evolutionary divergence in the Hengduan Mountains.

Development of Chloroplast and Nuclear DNA Markers for Chinese Oaks (Quercus Subgenus Quercus) and Assessment of Their Utility as DNA Barcodes

A low variation rate of the chloroplast genome, and complex speciation patterns involving incomplete lineage sorting, interspecific hybridization and introgression, possibly have negative impacts on the species assignment and phylogeny of oak species.

Oak ribosomal DNA: characterization by FISH and polymorphism assessed by IGS PCR–RFLP

Globally, IGS PCR–RFLP proved their usefulness for DNA fingerprinting, evaluation of phylogenies and genetic structure, proving to be an adequate complementary tool for rDNA based studies in genus Quercus.
