A new comparison of the antiproton–proton charge-to-mass ratios has been completed. The measured ratio of charge-to-mass ratios for the antiproton and proton is 1.000 000 001 5 ± 0.000 000 001 1. Comparing the cyclotron frequencies of a single p̄ and p in a Penning trap improves upon the accuracy of earlier techniques by a factor of 45,000. This comparison is the most accurate mass spectroscopy of particles of opposite charge in a Penning trap and the most accurate test of the CPT theorem with…

Apparatus and Methods for a New Measurement of the Electron and Positron Magnetic Moments

This thesis presents contributions to two precision measurement experiments: electron and positron g/2, and ATRAP antihydrogen spectroscopy. The magnetic moment of the electron in Bohr magnetons,

Chapter 1 precise matter and antimatter tests of the standard model with e−, e+, p, p and h

Extremely precise tests of the Standard Model of particle physics and its CPT theorem come from low energy measurements of the electron, positron, proton and antiproton magnetic moments and

Spin-flip resolution achieved with a one-proton self -excited oscillator

In a Penning trap with an extremely large magnetic gradient, the axial frequency of a one-proton self-excited oscillator is resolved at the level of the shift from a proton spin flip. This

Cavity control in a single -electron quantum cyclotron: An improved measurement of the electron magnetic moment

A single electron in a quantum cyclotron yields new measurements of the electron magnetic moment, given by g/2 = 1.001 159 652 180 73 (28) [0.28 ppt], and the fine structure constant, α−1 = 137.035

Cavity control of a single-electron quantum cyclotron: Measuring the electron magnetic moment

Measurements with a one-electron quantum cyclotron determine the electron magnetic moment, given by $g/2 = 1.001\,159\,652\,180\,73\,(28)\,[0.28~\textrm{ppt}]$, and the fine structure constant,

The preparation penning trap and recent developments on high-performance ion detection for the project trapsensor

El trabajo que se presenta en esta tesis doctoral se ha realizado en el marco del proyecto TRAPSENSOR [1], financiado por el Consejo Europeo de Investigacion. Tiene como objetivo principal

Improved comparison of P̄ and P charge-to-mass ratios

The measured ratio of charge-to-mass ratios for the antiproton and proton is 1.000 000 001 5 ± 0.000 000 001 1. This 1 part in 109 comparison (1 ppb) is possible because a single p̄ or p is now

Extremely cold antiprotons for antihydrogen production

The possibility to produce, trap and study antihydrogen atoms rests upon the recent availability of extremely cold antiprotons in a Penning trap. Over the last five years, our TRAP Collaboration has

Cylindrical Penning traps and self-shielding superconducting solenoids for high precision experiments

The antiproton and proton inertial masses have been measured to be the same to a fractional accuracy of 4 × 10−8 by our TRAP collaboration at CERN. Two key experimental advances were employed which

PCT, spin and statistics, and all that

PCT, Spin and Statistics, and All That is the classic summary of and introduction to the achievements of Axiomatic Quantum Field Theory. This theory gives precise mathematical responses to questions

Hyper.

This work shows that hyperbolicity can be computed in time O(2 +n+m) (m being the number of graph edges) while at the same time, unless the SETH fails, there is no 2n-time algorithm.
