TAPIR: A software toolkit for approximating and adapting POMDP solutions online
- D. KlimenkoJoshua SongH. Kurniawati
- 2014
Computer Science, Engineering
The need for a constant, fully known POMDP model is averted by implementing the recent Adaptive Belief Tree (ABT) algorithm, while user-friendliness is ensured by a welldocumented modular design, which also includes interfaces for the commonly-used Robotics Operating System framework, and the high fidelity simulator V-REP.
The Importance of a Suitable Distance Function in Belief-Space Planning
- Zakary LittlefieldD. KlimenkoH. KurniawatiKostas E. Bekris
- 2015
Computer Science, Mathematics
This work indicates that the rarely used Wasserstein distance (also known as Earth Mover’s Distance) is a more suitable metric than the commonly used \(\mathtt{L1} \) and Kullback–Leibler (\(\Mathtt{KL} \)) for belief-space planning.
The Evolution of Technology and Emergence of the Knowledge Society
- A. KlimenkoD. Klimenko
- 5 September 2019
Computer Science
The book is written for engineers, and for other readers who are interested in technology and wish to understand why technological progress becomes faster and faster, what technological changes the authors should expect in the future, and how these changes will impact out lives.
On limitations of learning algorithms in competitive environments
- A. KlimenkoD. Klimenko
- 25 November 2020
Computer Science, Philosophy
We discuss conceptual limitations of generic learning algorithms acting in a competitive environment, and demonstrate that they are subject to constraints that are analogous to the constraints on…
Evaluating transport in irregular pore networks.
- D. KlimenkoK. HoomanA. Klimenko
- 1 July 2012
Engineering, Environmental Science
Physical review. E, Statistical, nonlinear, and…
A comparison to numerical results for randomly generated networks with different properties is given, indicating the potential for this methodology to handle cases that would pose significant difficulties to many other analytical models.
Conditional Methods in Modeling CO2 Capture from Coal Syngas
- D. SaulovShuhei Watanabe A. Klimenko
- 27 March 2014
Chemistry, Engineering
Gasification of coal or biomass with in-situ CO2 capture is an emerging technology aiming to address the problem of climate change. Development of a CO2 sorbent with desirable properties and…
General Approach for Modelling of Reactive Transport in Porous Media
- D. SaulovM. M. ZhaoM. ClearyD. KlimenkoK. HoomanA. Klimenko
- 1 December 2012
Engineering, Environmental Science
This work presents a relatively new approach designed for modelling reacting flows in porous media by using conditional expectations. Similar methods, aimed at obtaining, closing and using…
A Stochastic Process Model of Classical Search
- D. KlimenkoH. KurniawatiM. Gallagher
- 27 November 2015
Computer Science, Mathematics
A novel search algorithm is derived, Search by Maximizing the Incremental Rate of Improvement (SMIRI), which is shown to outperform current state-of-the-art anytime search algorithms on a parametrized stochastic tree model for most of the tested parameter values.
