บทคดยอ บทความนมงเสนอขอเทจจรงเรองชวงเวลาการสรางพระเจดยศรสรโยทยองคปจจบน โดยใชหลกฐานเอกสารทางประวตศาสตรและขอมลจากคำบอกเลาของผทมชวตอยรวมสมย การศกษาพบวาพระเจดยศรสรโยทยองคทเหนทกวนนไมไดสรางขนในสมยสมเดจพระมหาจกรพรรดตามทคนทวไปเขาใจ แตสรางขนในสมยรชกาลท 6 แทนพระเจดยองคเดมทสรางมาตงแตสมยสมเดจพระมหาจกรพรรดแตถกรอไปในปลายสมยรชกาลท 5 เมอ พ.ศ. 2449 เพอสรางททำการและคายทหารมณฑลกรงเกา โดยพระเจดยศรสรโยทยองคเดมทสรางขนในรปแบบของพระเจดยคนนนาจะมรปทรงเชนเดยวกบพระเจดยวดวงชยและพระเจดยรายทรงกลม วดมหาธาต อยธยา ขณะทพระเจดยศรสรโยทยองคปจจบนนาจะมตนแบบมาจากพระเจดยทวดชมพลนกายาราม หรอเจดยวดญาณเสน อยธยา Abstract This paper aims to explore when exactly Phra Chedi Srisuriyothai was built. Drawing upon historical documents such as chronicles and anecdotes and upon interview data provided by two of the author’s teachers, the study reveals that the monument of Chedi Srisuriyothai, located on the western part of the Ayutthaya City Island and opposite to Kasatrathirat Temple, was not, as usually understood, the same Chedi as original built to commemorate the dead of Queen Srisuriyothai and his daughter – for the original Chedi, erected in pair, were built during Somdej Phra Mahachakapat of Ayutthaya Dynasty and demolished later in 1906 (during the later period of the fifth reign of Chakri Dynasty) to prepare the site for the construction of governmental buildings and barracks. The paper suggests that the original form of the duo Srisuriyothai’s Chedi might look like PhraChedi at Wiang-Chai Temple or the surrounding circular Chedi at Mahathat Temple, Ayutthaya, and that the style of the recent Srisuriyothai’s monument, built in 1912, derives from Phra Chedi at Chomphon Nikayaram Temple or that of Yansen Temple, Ayutthaya.
