von Willebrand factor (VWF) is a large multimeric adhesive glycoprotein with complex roles in thrombosis and hemostasis. Abnormalities in VWF give rise to a variety of bleeding complications, known as von Willebrand disease (VWD), the most common inherited bleeding disorder in humans.
