Molecular phylogenetics and evolution of Orchidinae and selected Habenariinae (Orchidaceae)
Internal transcribed spacer (ITS nuclear rDNA) data have been obtained from 190 terrestrial orchid species, encompassing all genera and the great majority of the widely recognized species of
Phylogenetic relationships in Orchis and some related genera: an approach using chloroplast DNA
TLDR
A chloroplast DNA restriction fragment length polymorphism analysis has been carried out on representatives species of Orchis and of the allied genera Aceras, Dactylorhiza, and Anacamptis, showing that OrChis, as presently defined, is paraphyletic.
Phylogeny and evolution of Orchis and allied genera based on ITS DNA variation: morphological gaps and molecular continuity.
TLDR
The results indicate that floral morphology is highly flexible and current generic and infrageneric limits are artificial, even if some floral characters closely correspond to the molecular data, most are highly homoplastic and thus unsuitable for phylogenetic reconstruction.
Molecular phylogeny and evolutionary history of the Eurasiatic orchid genus Himantoglossum s.l. (Orchidaceae).
TLDR
Plastid sequence divergence is broadly consistent with prior, morphologically circumscribed taxa and indicates a division between H. hircinum-adriaticum to the west of the Carpathians and H. jankae-caprinum (plus local endemics) to the east, a distinction also suggested by nrITS ribotypes.
Speciation processes in Eastern Mediterranean Orchis s.l. species: Molecular evidence and the role of pollination biology
TLDR
It is found that Eastern Mediterranean orchids do not represent a monophylum, as they belong to all of the three genera into which Orchis s.l. has recently been divided and some sister terminals either show a broad East/West distribution pattern across the Mediterranean or represent peripheral isolates from amore extended range.
Phylogeny of Orchidaceae species in northwest Syria based on ISSRs.
TLDR
A morphological and molecular characterisation of orchid species distributed in the North Western region of Syria which is very rich with these species was carried out and the classification status of some Orchis species was revised.
CONFIDENCE LIMITS ON PHYLOGENIES: AN APPROACH USING THE BOOTSTRAP
  • J. Felsenstein

Evolution; international journal of organic evolution
  • 1985
TLDR
The recently‐developed statistical method known as the “bootstrap” can be used to place confidence intervals on phylogenies and shows significant evidence for a group if it is defined by three or more characters.
STUDIES ON THE MORPHOLOGY, ANATOMY AND ECOLOGY OF OPHRYS LUTEA CAV. SUBSP. MINOR (GUSS.) O. DANESCH & E. DANESCH EX GÖLZ & H.R. REINHARD (ORCHIDACEAE) IN TURKEY
In this study, morphological, anatomical and ecological characteristics of Ophrys lutea subsp. minor in Turkey were investigated. The plant material was collected from 30 different populations during
Estimation of the number of nucleotide substitutions in the control region of mitochondrial DNA in humans and chimpanzees.
TLDR
A new mathematical method for estimating the number of transitional and transversional substitutions per site, as well as the total number of nucleotide substitutions, suggested that the transition/transversion ratio for the entire control region was approximately 15 and nearly the same for the two species.
