ilica nanoparticles (1% by weight) were dispersed in a eutectic f lithium carbonate and potassium carbonate (62:38 ratio) to btain high temperature nanofluids. A differential scanning caloimeter instrument was used to measure the specific heat of the eat molten salt eutectic and after addition of nanoparticles. The pecific heat of the nanofluid was enhanced by 19–24%. The meaurement uncertainty for the specific heat values in the experients is estimated to be in the range of 1–5%. These…

Enhancement of Molar Heat Capacity of Nanostructured Al2O3

The nanosized alumina prepared by the hydrolysis method with an average particle size of 20 nm was characterized by X-ray diffraction. The heat capacity measurements of the prepared sample were

Measurement of the specific heat capacity of water-based Al2O3 nanofluid

In this letter, we have presented an experimental investigation of the specific heat cp of water-based Al2O3 nanofluid with a differential scanning calorimeter. The result indicates that the specific

Thermal conductivity improvement in carbon nanoparticle doped PAO oil: An experimental study

The present work involves a study on the thermal conductivity of nanoparticle-oil suspensions for three types of nanoparticles, namely, carbon nanotubes (CNTs), exfoliated graphite (EXG), and heat

Measurement of thermophysical properties of molten salts: Mixtures of alkaline carbonate salts

The purpose of this study is to develop measuring methods for the thermal diffusivity, the specific heat capacity, and the density of molten salts, as well as to measure these properties of mixtures

Measuring Thermal Conductivity of Fluids Containing Oxide Nanoparticles

Oxide nanofluids were produced and their thermal conductivities were measured by a transient hot-wire method. The experimental results show that these nanofluids, containing a small amount of

Enhanced thermal conductivity through the development of nanofluids

Low thermal conductivity is a primary limitation in the development of energy-efficient heat transfer fluids required in many industrial applications. To overcome this limitation, a new class of heat

Flow Loop Experiments Using Polyalphaolefin Nanofluids

Experiments were performed using a flow-loop apparatus to explore the performance of nanofluids in cooling applications. The experiments were performed using exfoliated graphite nanoparticle fibers

Convective Transport in Nanofluids

Nanofluids are engineered colloids made of a base fluid and nanoparticles (1-100 nm). Nanofluids have higher thermal conductivity' and single-phase heat transfer coefficients than their base fluids.

Thermal conductance of nanofluids: is the controversy over?

Over the last decade nanofluids (colloidal suspensions of solid nanoparticles) sparked excitement as well as controversy. In particular, a number of researches reported dramatic increases of thermal
