In China, TianMai Xiaoke tablet (TM) is used to treat type 2 diabetes. However, the exact mechanism of TM is not clear. This study is to investigate the effect of TM on glucose metabolism in diabetic rats and to identify whether TM takes a direct action through microRNAs on islet. Rats were divided into control group, diabetic group, low dose of TM group (TML), and high dose of TM group (TMH). Pancreas samples were analyzed using microRNA array and Q-PCR. Eight-week treatment with TM…

The Effect of Tianmai Xiaoke Pian on Insulin Resistance through PI3-K/AKT Signal Pathway
Tianmai Xiaoke Pian can alleviate insulin resistance in T2DM rats through the PI3K/AKT pathway, and appears to be a promising insulin sensitizer.
miR-142-5p regulates the progression of diabetic retinopathy by targeting IGF1
Collectively, miR-142-5p participated in DR development by targeting IGF1/p-IGF1R signaling pathway and VEGF generation and provided a novel therapeutic target for DR clinical treatment.

TMXKT combined with conventional therapy is beneficial for patients with newly diagnosed T2DM, however, the effectiveness and safety of TMXKT are uncertain because of the limited number of trials and low methodological quality.
Plasma microRNAs biomarkers in mild cognitive impairment among patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus
A significantly over expression of miR-132 was detected among T2DM with MCI compared to those with normal cognition, and other studied miRNAs showed lower sensitivity and specificity for detecting MCI among studied T1DM participants.
miR‐448‐3p alleviates diabetic vascular dysfunction by inhibiting endothelial–mesenchymal transition through DPP‐4 dysregulation
In vitro experiments demonstrated that miR‐448‐3p overexpression in endothelial cells alleviated endothelial damage by inhibiting EndMT through blocking the transforming growth factor‐β/Smad pathway, and in vivo experiments proved that mi R‐448-3p inhibits EndMT via targeting DPP‐4 and further ameliorates diabetic vascular endothelial dysfunction.
Effect of Chromium Picolinate Supplementation on Diabetic Profile and Nutritional Status of the Type-2 Diabetic Adult Population – A Randomized Controlled Trial
The study concluded that CrP combined with dietary counseling had positive effect on diabetic profile of the newly diagnosed T2DM patients and the clinical signs and symptoms were improved.
Analysis of long noncoding RNA-associated competing endogenous RNA network in glucagon-like peptide-1 receptor agonist-mediated protection in β cells
Key lncRNAs and mRNAs are identified and highlighted here how they interact through the ceRNA mechanism to mediate the protective effect of GLP-1RA in β cells.
An Update on MicrornaâÂÂs and Metabolic Regulation with Future TherapeuticPotentials Regarding Diagnosis and Treatment of Obesity, MetabolicSyndrome and Other Related Disorders
The role of nanoparticle based delivery of RNA interference (RNAi) therapeutics along with different delivery systems for various cancers e.g. role of (ALN-VSP), a lipid formation delivering siRNAs against two important cancer genes, kinesin spindle protein (KSP) and vascular endothelial growth factor (VEGF), for the treatment of liver cancers in phase 1 trials is reviewed.

Identification of glucose-regulated miRNAs from pancreatic {beta} cells reveals a role for miR-30d in insulin transcription.
Interestingly, it is found that overexpression of miR-30d, one of the miRNAs up-regulated by glucose, increased insulin gene expression, while inhibition ofmiR- 30d abolished glucose-stimulated insulin gene transcription, which suggests that the putative target genes ofMiRNAs may be negative regulators of insulin geneexpression.
[Efficacy of tianmaixiaoke tablets in the treatment of newly diagnosed type 2 diabetes mellitus in China].
Chromium is commonly deficient in the newly diagnosed type 2 diabetics in China and HbA1c decreases and serum chromium increases significantly after chromium supplementation in the patients with a low baseline serum level of chromium.

Cr lowers FBS but does not affect HbA1c, lipids and BMI, and seven out of 13 relevant studies met the criteria and were included in the meta-analysis.
Potential Antioxidant Effects of Zinc and Chromium Supplementation in People with Type 2 Diabetes Mellitus
The data suggest the potential beneficial antioxidant effects of the individual and combined supplementation of Zn and Cr in people with type 2 DM, and are particularly important in light of the deleterious consequences of oxidative stress inPeople with diabetes.
miR-375 maintains normal pancreatic α- and β-cell mass
It is shown that microRNA-375 (miR-375), which is highly expressed in pancreatic islets, is required for normal glucose homeostasis and adaptive β-cell expansion in response to increasing insulin demand in insulin resistance.
Silencing of microRNAs in vivo with ‘antagomirs’
It is shown that a novel class of chemically engineered oligonucleotides, termed ‘antagomirs’, are efficient and specific silencers of endogenous miRNA levels in mice and may represent a therapeutic strategy for silencing miRNAs in disease.
A pancreatic islet-specific microRNA regulates insulin secretion
It is shown that overexpression of miR-375 suppressed glucose-induced insulin secretion, and conversely, inhibition of endogenous mi R-375 function enhanced insulin secretion and may constitute a novel pharmacological target for the treatment of diabetes.
miR-375 Targets 3′-Phosphoinositide–Dependent Protein Kinase-1 and Regulates Glucose-Induced Biological Responses in Pancreatic β-Cells
Evidence is provided for a role of a pancreatic-specific microRNA, miR-375, in the regulation of PDK1, a key molecule in PI 3-kinase signaling in pancreatic β-cells.
Chromium Treatment Has No Effect in Patients With Type 2 Diabetes in a Western Population
There is no evidence that chromium in the form of chromium yeast is effective in improving glycemic control in Western patients with type 2 diabetes who are taking oral hypoglycemic agents.
Increased oxidative stress in diabetes regulates activation of a small molecular weight G-protein, H-Ras, in the retina
It is shown that functional activation of a small molecular weight G-protein, H-Ras, is one of the signaling steps involved in glucose-induced apoptosis of retinal capillary cells and can be prevented by inhibiting superoxide accumulation.
