The development of skeletal muscle is a complex process involving the proliferation, differentiation, apoptosis, and changing of muscle fiber types in myoblasts. Many reports have described the involvement of microRNAs in the myogenesis of myoblasts. In this study, we found that the expression of miR-152 was gradually down-regulated during myoblast proliferation, but gradually up-regulated during the differentiation of myoblasts. Transfection with miR-152 mimics restrained cell proliferation…
Bta‐miR‐885 promotes proliferation and inhibits differentiation of myoblasts by targeting MyoD1
TLDR
The results signified that miR‐885 could be critical for the proliferation and differentiation in primary bovine myoblast cells by targeting the MyoD1 gene in cattle.
Mir-152 Regulates 3T3-L1 Preadipocyte Proliferation and Differentiation
TLDR
The findings suggest that miR-152 could suppress 3T3-L1 preadipocyte proliferation, whereas it could promote 3T 3-L 1 preadendipocyte differentiation by negatively regulating LPL.
Downregulated miR-204 Promotes Skeletal Muscle Regeneration
TLDR
The results suggest that Pax7, IGF1, and Mef2c are the target genes of miR-204 in the process of myoblasts proliferation, cell migration, and differentiation, respectively, and may contribute to mouse skeletal muscle regeneration.
MicroRNA-24-3p promotes skeletal muscle differentiation and regeneration by regulating HMGA1.
TLDR
Findings provide evidence that the miR-24-3p/HMGA1/ID3 axis is required for MuSC differentiation and skeletal muscle regeneration in vivo.
MicroRNA-24-3p promotes skeletal muscle differentiation and regeneration by regulating HMGA1
TLDR
Findings provide evidence that the miR-24-3p/HMGA1/ID3 axis is required for MuSC differentiation and regeneration in vivo.
miR-152 Regulates Bovine Myoblast Proliferation by Targeting KLF6
TLDR
It is suggested that miR-152 inhibits bovine myoblast proliferation via targeting KLF6 through bioinformatics software prediction and dual-luciferase report analysis.
Chromatin accessibility is associated with the changed expression of miRNAs that target members of the Hippo pathway during myoblast differentiation
TLDR
The results showed that these differentially expressed miRNAs were regulated by chromatin states and affected muscle differentiation through the Hippo signaling pathway, and provided new insights into the function of these differential expressed miRNAAs and the regulation of their expression during myoblast differentiation.
Regulation of skeletal myogenesis by microRNAs
TLDR
The current findings of miRNAs and signaling pathways in the regulation of skeletal myogenesis are summarized, focusing on mi RNAs’ target genes and IGF/AKT/mTOR pathway and TGF‐β signaling.

MicroRNA-17-92 regulates myoblast proliferation and differentiation by targeting the ENH1/Id1 signaling axis
TLDR
Analysis of miRNA expression patterns reveal that miRNAs of miR-17-92 cluster are dramatically downregulated in C2C12 cells after myogenesis stimulation, are strongly induced in mouse skeletal muscle after injury and decrease steadily thereafter and are downregulated with age in skeletal muscle during mouse and porcine postnatal growth.
miR-491 inhibits skeletal muscle differentiation through targeting myomaker.
MicroRNA-148a Promotes Myogenic Differentiation by Targeting the ROCK1 Gene*
TLDR
The results revealed a novel mechanism in which miR-148a positively regulates myogenic differentiation via ROCK1 down-regulation, underscoring a negative regulatory function of ROCK1 in myogenesis.
MicroRNA-128 targets myostatin at coding domain sequence to regulate myoblasts in skeletal muscle development.
miR-143 regulates proliferation and differentiation of bovine skeletal muscle satellite cells by targeting IGFBP5
TLDR
A mechanism that miR-143 can regulate the proliferation and differentiation of bovine MSCs through changing expression of IGFBP5 was elucidated by the study.
The role of microRNA-1 and microRNA-133 in skeletal muscle proliferation and differentiation
TLDR
The results show that two mature miRNAs, derived from the same miRNA polycistron and transcribed together, can carry out distinct biological functions and suggest a molecular mechanism in which miRN as participate in transcriptional circuits that control skeletal muscle gene expression and embryonic development.
Muscle stem cell behavior is modified by microRNA-27 regulation of Pax3 expression
TLDR
It is concluded that miR-27b regulates Pax3 protein levels and this down-regulation ensures rapid and robust entry into the myogenic differentiation program.
Developmental patterns in the expression of Myf5, MyoD, myogenin, and MRF4 during myogenesis.
TLDR
Temporal and phenotypic differences related to the expression of Myf5, MyoD, Myogenin, and MRF4 suggest that these factors fulfil distinct roles in the control of myogenesis.
Trbp Is Required for Differentiation of Myoblasts and Normal Regeneration of Skeletal Muscle
TLDR
Using a conditional knockout model, skeletal muscle specific Trbp mutant mice appear to be phenotypically normal under normal physiological conditions and inhibition of Trbp repressed myoblast differentiation in vitro, demonstrating that Trbp participates in the regulation of muscle differentiation and regeneration.
