We perform a detailed and illustrative study of the production of keV sterile neutrino Dark Matter (DM) by decays of singlet scalars in the early Universe. In the current study we focus on providing a clear and general overview of this production mechanism. For the first time we study all regimes possible on the level of momentum distribution functions, which we obtain by solving a system of Boltzmann equations. These quantities contain the full information about the production process, which…
keV Sterile Neutrino Dark Matter from Singlet Scalar Decays: The Most General Case
We investigate the early Universe production of sterile neutrino Dark Matter by the decays of singlet scalars. All previous studies applied simplifying assumptions and/or studied the process only on
keV sterile neutrino Dark Matter
We give an overview of the current status of keV sterile neutrino Dark Matter. After a short introduction, we start by a general discussion of non-thermal production of Dark Matter, which applies to
Sterile Neutrinos as Dark Matter: Alternative Production Mechanisms in the Early Universe
We study various production mechanisms of sterile neutrinos in the early universe beyond and within the standard model. We obtain the quantum kinetic equations for production and the distribution
Sterile neutrino dark matter: Weak interactions in the strong coupling epoch
We perform a detailed study of the weak interactions of standard model neutrinos with the primordial plasma and their effect on the resonant production of sterile neutrino dark matter. Motivated by
Neutrino masses, leptogenesis and dark matter from small lepton number violation?.
We consider the possibility of simultaneously addressing the baryon asymmetry of the Universe, the dark matter problem and the neutrino mass generation in minimal extensions of the Standard Model via
Dark Matter Sterile Neutrino from Scalar Decays
We place constraints on DM sterile neutrino scalar decay production (SDP) assuming that sterile neutrinos representa fraction from the total Cold Dark Matter energy density. For the cosmological
Astrophysical constraints on resonantly produced sterile neutrino dark matter
Resonantly produced sterile neutrinos are considered an attractive dark matter (DM) candidate only requiring a minimal, well motivated extension to the standard model of particle physics. With a
Axion-assisted production of sterile neutrino dark matter
Sterile neutrinos can be generated in the early universe through oscillations with active neutrinos and represent a popular and well-studied candidate for our universe's dark matter. Stringent
"Non-cold" dark matter at small scales: a general approach
Structure formation at small cosmological scales provides an important frontier for dark matter (DM) research. Scenarios with small DM particle masses, large momenta or hidden interactions tend to
Cosmological constraints on sterile neutrino Dark Matter production mechanisms
Presently, the constraints on the scalar neutrino DM resonant production (RP) and scalar decay production (SDP) mechanisms are based on the power suppression of the gravitational clustering at small

New Production Mechanism for keV Sterile Neutrino Dark Matter by Decays of Frozen-In Scalars
We propose a new production mechanism for keV sterile neutrino Dark Matter. In our setting, we assume the existence of a scalar singlet particle which never entered thermal equilibrium in the early
Clustering properties of a sterile neutrino dark matter candidate
The clustering properties of sterile neutrinos are studied within a simple extension of the minimal standard model, where these neutrinos are produced via the decay of a gauge singlet scalar. The
Dark Matter, Baryogenesis and Neutrino Oscillations from Right Handed Neutrinos
We show that, leaving aside accelerated cosmic expansion, all experimental data in high energy physics that are commonly agreed to require physics beyond the Standard Model can be explained when
Resonantly produced 7 keV sterile neutrino dark matter models and the properties of Milky Way satellites.
Sterile neutrinos produced through a resonant Shi-Fuller mechanism are arguably the simplest model for a dark matter interpretation of the origin of the recent unidentified x-ray line seen toward a
Dark-matter sterile neutrinos in models with a gauge singlet in the Higgs sector
Sterile neutrino with mass of several keV can be the cosmological dark matter, can explain the observed velocities of pulsars, and can play an important role in the formation of the first stars. We
Influence of a keV sterile neutrino on neutrinoless double beta decay: How things changed in recent years
Earlier studies of the influence of Dark Matter keV sterile neutrinos on neutrino-less double beta decay concluded that there is no significant modification of the decay rate. These studies have
Cosmic dark radiation and neutrinos
New measurements of the cosmic microwave background (CMB) by the Planck mission have greatly increased our knowledge about the universe. Dark radiation, a weakly interacting component of radiation,
Cosmological Limits on Hidden Sector Dark Matter
We explore the model-independent constraints from cosmology on a dark-matter particle with no prominent standard model interactions that interacts and thermalizes with other particles in a hidden
