We numerically simulate thermal dynamics in an energy landscape with a hierarchical organization of metastable states. In the model, record sized energy fluctuations are needed to trigger changes from one metastable state to another. The initial configuration is chosen to have a large energy excess, relative to the thermal equilibrium value at the running temperature.
