Robustness of vision is a notorious problem in vision, and it is one of the major bottlenecks for industrial exploitation of vision. One hypothesis is that fusion of multiple natural features facilitates robust detection and tracking of objects in scenes of realistic complexity. Use of dedicated models of objects of interest is another approach to the robustness problem.
