The thermal transformation of zinc hydroxide sulphate hydrate to zinc oxide has been examined using synchrotron X-ray diffraction, thermogravimetric analysis, scanning electron microscopy, and surface area measurements. By collecting X-ray diffraction data in situ, we found that the dehydration of zinc hydroxide sulphate pentahydrate proceeded in discrete steps to form anhydrous zinc hydroxide sulphate. This compound then decomposed to a mixture of zinc oxide and a compound tentatively…
Transformation of zinc hydroxide chloride monohydrate to crystalline zinc oxide.
TLDR
This work examines the sequence of changes occurring as zinc hydroxide chloride monohydrate (Zn5(OH)8Cl2·H2·O) is converted to crystalline ZnO by thermal decomposition and shows that this volatile compound is anhydrous ZnCl2 and its formation is moisture dependent.
On the formation of nanocrystalline active zinc oxide from zinc hydroxide carbonate
The decomposition of zinc hydroxide carbonate, Zn5(CO3)2(OH)6 (ZHC), into the high surface area form of ZnO known as “active zinc oxide” is examined. In particular, the nucleation and evolution of
Thermal decomposition of zinc hydroxy-sulfate-hydrate minerals
The thermal decomposition of three structurally and chemically close compounds: Zn4(OH)6(SO4)·4H2O, NaZn4(OH)6(SO4)Cl·6H2O and CaZn8(OH)12(SO4)2Cl2·9H2O, known as namuwite, gordaite and
Rapid synthesis of zinc oxide nanoparticles from an alkaline zinc solution via direct precipitation
The purpose of this paper is to describe a novel method for producing zinc oxide (ZnO). Within only 10 min of the synthesis procedure, ZnO nanoparticles were precipitated directly from a sodium
Phosphorus Removal Characteristics of Layered Zinc Hydroxide Synthesized from Zinc Hydroxide Sulfate
As a research to explore the application of layered zinc hydroxide incorporated with ion exchangeable anions between layers as a phosphorus removal material, a layered zinc hydroxide containing
On the Crystal Structure of a Previously Unknown Anhydrous Zinc Hydroxide Sulfate
Anhydrous zinc hydroxide sulfates are promising precursors for the preparation of pigments and ZnO nanomaterials. The crystal structure of one such compound 5[Zn(OH)2]·2[ZnSO4] was determined from
Oriented Transformation from Layered Zinc Hydroxides to Nanoporous ZnO: A Comparative Study of Different Anion Types.
TLDR
A comparative study on the crystal orientation relationship between LZH precursors and the corresponding porous ZnO products by using well-faceted and highly oriented LZh crystals with three different anions, i.e., NO3-, SO42-, and Cl-.

Aqueous pathways for the formation of zinc oxide nanoparticles.
TLDR
It is shown that, having fixed other reaction conditions, the end-products, particle structures and size strongly depend on the mole ratio of the precursors.
Porous ZnO Sheets Transformed from Zinc Sulfate Hydroxide Hydrate and Their Photoluminescence Performance
Highly crystalline, porous ZnO sheets were prepared from chemically-deposited zinc sulfate hydroxide hydrate (ZSH) sheets by sintering at 1000 °C. The formation mechanism of ZSH in Zn 2+ -
Zinc hydroxyacetate and its transformation to nanocrystalline zinc oxide.
TLDR
Overall, the product of the calcination is equiaxed ZnO nanocrystals of 20-100 nm diameter, and a portion of Zn(CH(3)CO(2))(2) sublimes during the process.
Solar thermal, decomposition kinetics of zinc sulfate at high heating rates
This paper describes the experimental and analytical methods required to study decomposition of zinc sulfate in a simulated solar environment. Experiments were conducted at sample heating rates
Effusion studies of the decomposition of zinc sulfate and zinc oxysulfate
The torsion-effusion method has been used to measure the SO/sub 3/ decomposition pressure over the crystalline solids ZnSO/sub 4/ and ZnO x 2ZnSO/sub 4/ in the range of about 800 to 900 K. SO/sub 3/
The ZnSO4.3Zn(OH)2-H2O system. I. Phase formation
The bzs-watersystem, where bzs is an abbreviation for ZnSO4.3Zn(OH)2, has been investigated by chemical, X-ray and thermal analyses. The bzs.5H2O was precipitated from solution. Four discrete lower
