We succeeded in separating the absorption lines of both the primary C1 and the secondary C2 component in the spectra of the young massive binary θ1 OriC (O6Vp + B0V, mass sum 44 ± 7M⊙), obtained during the period from November 1995 to February 2013 with different telescopes. These observations allowed us to derive, for the first time, the radial velocities of both components. The orbitalmotion of the secondary star is traced through its weak (the line depth is approximately 0.01–0.02…
The binary star θ1 Ori C: orbital elements, evolutionary parameters and chemical composition
About 200 echelle spectra, obtained at the 1-m and 6-m telescopes of the Special Astrophysical Observatory (SAO) of the Russian Academy of Sciences (RAS), with high spectral resolution and
Design of a high resolution spectrograph for the SAO 1-m telescope
We designed a cross-dispersion fiber-fed spectrograph for moderate-diameter telescopes. The instrument can simultaneously record the wavelength interval spanning from 3850 to 10 850 Å at a spectral
The geometry and dynamical role of stellar wind bubbles in photoionized H ii regions
Winds from young massive stars contribute a large amount of energy to their host molecular clouds. This has consequences for the dynamics and observable structure of star-forming clouds. In this

Tracing the young massive high-eccentricity binary system Theta 1 Orionis C through periastron passage
Context. The nearby high-mass star binary system θ 1 Ori C is the brightest and most massive of the Trapezium OB stars at the core of the Orion Nebula Cluster, and it represents a perfect laboratory
Kinematic Structure of the Orion Nebula Cluster and Its Surroundings
We present results from 1351 high-resolution spectra of 1215 stars in the Orion Nebula Cluster (ONC) and the surrounding Orion 1c association, obtained with the Hectochelle multiobject echelle
Visual/infrared interferometry of Orion Trapezium stars: preliminary dynamical orbit and aperture synthesis imaging of the θ1 Orionis C system
Context. Located in the Orion Trapezium cluster, θ^1 Ori C is one of the youngest and nearest high-mass stars (O5-O7) known. Besides its unique properties as a magnetic rotator, the system is also
Long-term monitoring of theta1 OriC: the spectroscopic orbit and an improved rotational period
Context. The young O-type star θ 1 Ori C, the brightest star of the Trapezium cluster in Orion, is one of only two known magnetic rotators among the O stars. However, not all spectroscopic variations
Motion in the Orion nebula - A kinematic study of forbidden S III
Slit spectra of [S III] 631.2 nm emission were used to map the velocity structure of the inner few arcminutes of M42. The resolution of the spectra, 5 km s −1 , is high enough so that different
The magnetic field and wind confinement of θ1 Orionis C
We report the detection, through spectropolarimetric observations, of a strong dipolar magnetic field of presumably fossil origin at the surface of the very young O star theta (1) Ori C. The Stokes V
Detailed spectroscopic analysis of the Trapezium cluster stars inside the Orion nebula. Rotational v
We present the results of a spectroscopic analysis of the Trapezium cluster stars inside the Orion Nebula. The rotational velocities have been obtained using Fourier analysis method, finding
The magnetic field and confined wind of the O star theta^1 Orionis C
Aims. In this paper we confirm the presence of a globally-ordered, k G-strength magnetic field in the photosphere of the young O st ar θ 1 Orionis C, and examine the properties of its optical line
Accurate masses and radii of normal stars: modern results and applications
This article presents and discusses a critical compilation of accurate, fundamental determinations of stellar masses and radii. We have identified 95 detached binary systems containing 190 stars (94
A new calibration of stellar parameters of Galactic O stars
We present new calibrations of stellar parameters of O stars at solar metallicity taking non-LTE, wind, and line-blanketing effects into account. Gravities and absolute visual magnitudes are derived
