In Isohypsibius granulifer, yolk is autosynthesized. The Golgi apparatus is mainly responsible for the formation of yolk, which consists of irregular platelets with heterogeneous contents and a diameter of about 1 μm. Dense globules, 300 nm in diameter, are visible among yolk platelets. These develop in the vesicles of the rough endoplasmic reticulum.
