Alzheimer's disease (AD) is a progressive neurodegenerative disorder characterized by acute cognitive decline. The AD brain is featured by extracellular senile amyloid plaques, intraneuronal neurofibrillary tangles and extensive neuronal cell loss in specific regions of the brain associated with memory.
