The ATP binding cassette enzyme ABCE1 (also known as RNase-L (ribonuclease L) inhibitor, Pixie, and HP68), one of the evolutionary most sequence-conserved enzymes, functions in translation initiation, ribosome biogenesis, and human immunodeficiency virus capsid assembly.
