X-linked agammaglobulinemia (XLA) is a primary immunodeficiency disease caused by mutations in the Bruton’s tyrosine kinase (BTK) gene. XLA can also present in combination with juvenile idiopathic arthritis (JIA), the major chronic rheumatologic disease in children.
