We investigate a witness for nonclassical multipartite states based on their disturbance under local measurements. The witness operator provides a sufficient condition for nonclassicality that coincides with a nonvanishing global quantum discord, but it does not demand an extremization procedure. Moreover, for the case of Z{sub 2}-symmetric systems, we rewrite the witness in terms of correlation functions so that classicality is found to necessarily require either vanishing magnetization in the… Expand
Multipartite quantum correlations in open quantum systems
In this paper, we present a measure of quantum correlation for a multipartite system, defined as the sum of the correlations for all possible partitions. Our measure can be defined for quantumExpand
Quantum Discord in the Ground State of Spin Chains
The ground state of a quantum spin chain is a natural playground for investigating correlations. Nevertheless, not all correlations are genuinely of quantum nature. Here we review the recent progressExpand
Recent work has relatively comprehensively studied the quantum discord, which is supposed to account for all the nonclassical correlations present in a bipartite state (including entanglement), andExpand
Maxwell's demons in multipartite quantum correlated systems
We investigate the extraction of thermodynamic work by a Maxwell's demon in a multipartite quantum correlated system. We begin by adopting the standard model of a Maxwell's demon as a Turing machine,Expand
Genuine multipartite system-environment correlations in decoherent dynamics
We propose relative entropy-based quantifiers for genuine multipartite total, quantum, and classical correlations. These correlation measures are applied to investigate the generation of genuineExpand
Pairwise thermal entanglement and quantum discord in a three-ligand spin-star structure
In this work, we perform a comparative study between the pairwise thermal entanglement (PWTE) and thermal quantum discord (TQD) to detect quantum phase transitions (QPT)s in a three-ligand spin-starExpand
The classical-quantum boundary for correlations: Discord and related measures
One of the best signatures of nonclassicality in a quantum system is the existence of correlations that have no classical counterpart. Different methods for quantifying the quantum and classicalExpand
Measures and applications of quantum correlations
Quantum information theory is built upon the realisation that quantum resources like coherence and entanglement can be exploited for novel or enhanced ways of transmitting and manipulatingExpand
Analytical expressions of global quantum discord for two classes of multi-qubit states
Abstract Global quantum discord (GQD), proposed by Rulli and Sarandy [C.C. Rulli, M.S. Sarandy, Phys. Rev. A 84 (2011) 042109], is a generalization of quantum discord to multipartite states. In thisExpand
Quantum correlations in collective spin systems
Quantum and classical pairwise correlations in two typical collective spin systems (i.e., the Dicke model and the Lipkin-Meshkov-Glick model) are discussed. These correlations in the thermodynamicalExpand
