We present a general setup for inflation in string theory where the inflaton field corresponds to Wilson lines in compact space in the presence of magnetic fluxes. T-dualities and limits on the value of the magnetic fluxes relate this system to the standard D-brane inflation scenarios, such as brane-antibrane inflation, D3/D7 brane inflation and different configurations of branes at angles. This can then be seen as a generalised approach to inflation from open string modes. Inflation ends when…

Fluxbrane Inflation

Warped Wilson line DBI inflation

A novel inflationary scenario in string theory in which the inflaton field is a Wilson line degree of freedom in the worldvolume of a probe Dp-brane, in a warped flux compactification in the framework of DBI inflation.

Fluxbranes: moduli stabilisation and inflation

A bstractFluxbrane inflation is a stringy version of D-term inflation in which two fluxed D7-branes move towards each other until their (relative) gauge flux annihilates. Compared to brane-antibrane

D7‐brane moduli space in axion monodromy and fluxbrane inflation

We analyze the quantum‐corrected moduli space of D7‐brane position moduli with special emphasis on inflationary model building. D7‐brane deformation moduli are key players in two recently proposed

Fibre inflation: observable gravity waves from IIB string compactifications

We introduce a simple string model of inflation, in which the inflaton field can take trans-Planckian values while driving a period of slow-roll inflation. This leads naturally to a realisation of

F-term axion monodromy inflation

A bstractThe continuous shift symmetry of axions is at the heart of several realizations of inflationary models. In particular, axion monodromy inflation aims at achieving super-Planckian field

String loop moduli stabilisation and cosmology in IIB flux compactifications

We present a detailed review of the moduli stabilisation mechanism and possible cosmological implications of the LARGE Volume Scenario (LVS) that emerges naturally in the context of type IIB

Poly-instanton inflation

We propose a new inflationary scenario in type IIB Calabi-Yau compactifications, where the inflaton is a Kahler modulus parameterising the volume of an internal four-cycle. The inflaton potential is

Inflation in realistic D-brane models

We find successful models of D-brane/anti-brane inflation within a string context. We work within the GKP-LT class of type IIB string vacua for which many moduli are stabilized through fluxes, as

Brane-antibrane inflation in orbifold and orientifold models

We analyse the cosmological implications of brane-antibrane systems in string-theoretic orbifold and orientifold models. In a class of realistic models, consistency conditions require branes and

Warped Tachyonic Inflation in Type IIB Flux Compactifications and the Open-String Completeness Conjecture

We consider a cosmological scenario within the KKLT framework for moduli stabilization in string theory. The universal open string tachyon of decaying non-BPS D-brane configurations is proposed to

An inflationary model in string theory

We construct a model of inflation in string theory after carefully taking into account moduli stabilization. The setting is a warped compactification of type IIB string theory in the presence of D3-

Recombination of Intersecting D-Branes and Cosmological Inflation

We consider the interactions between Dp-branes intersecting at an arbitrary number of angles in the context of type-II string theory. For cosmology purposes we concentrate in the theory on 3,1 × T6.

Inflationary scenarios from branes at angles

We describe a simple mechanism that can lead to inflation within string-based brane-world scenarios. The idea is to start from a supersymmetric configuration with two parallel static Dp-branes, and

Brane Inflation

The giant inflaton

We investigate a new mechanism for realizing slow roll inflation in string theory, based on the dynamics of p anti-D3 branes in a class of mildly warped flux compactifications. Attracted to the

Brane interaction as the origin of inflation

We reanalyze brane inflation with brane-brane interactions at an angle, which include the special case of brane-anti-brane interaction. If nature is described by a stringy realization of the brane

Multibrane inflation and dynamical flattening of the inflaton potential

We investigate the problem of fine tuning of the potential in the KKLMMT warped flux compactification scenario for brane-antibrane inflation in Type IIB string theory. We argue for the importance of
