We investigate the Wightman function, the vacuum expectation values of the field squared, and the energy-momentum tensor for a scalar field with a general curvature coupling parameter in (D+1)-dimensional de Sitter (dS) spacetime with an arbitrary number of compactified spatial dimensions. Both cases of periodicity and antiperiodicity conditions along the compactified dimensions are considered. Recurrence formulas are derived which express the vacuum expectation values for the dS spacetime of…

The fermionic Casimir effect in toroidally compactified de Sitter spacetime

We investigate the fermionic condensate and the vacuum expectation values of the energy–momentum tensor for a massive spinor field in de Sitter spacetime with spatial topology Rp × (S1)q. Both cases

Simple de Sitter solutions

We present a framework for de Sitter model building in type IIA string theory, illustrated with specific examples. We find metastable dS minima of the potential for moduli obtained from a

The Generalized Abel-Plana formula with applications to Bessel functions and Casimir effect

One of the most efficient methods to obtain the vacuum expectation values for the physical observables in the Casimir effect is based on using the Abel-Plana summation formula. This allows us to

The Casimir Effect and Its Applications

The Casimir effect is analyzed. This effect consists of a polarization of the vacuum of quantized fields which arises as a result of a change in the spectrum of vacuum oscillations when the

Quantum Fields in Curved Space

This book presents a comprehensive review of the subject of gravitational effects in quantum field theory. Although the treatment is general, special emphasis is given to the Hawking black hole

Particle Physics and Inflationary Cosmology

With the invention of unified theories of strong, weak, electromagnetic and gravitational interactions, elementaryparticle physics has entered a very interesting and unusual stage of its development.

Integrals and series

The pages of this expensive but invaluable reference work are dense with formulae of stupefying complexity. Chapters 1 and 2 treat definite/indefinite integral properties of a great variety of
