This paper addresses the modeling and cancellation of self-interference in full-duplex direct-conversion radio transceivers, operating under practical imperfect radio frequency (RF) components. First, detailed self-interference signal modeling is carried out, taking into account the most important RF imperfections, namely, transmitter power amplifier nonlinear distortion as well as transmitter and receiver IQ mixer amplitude and phase imbalances. The analysis shows that after realistic antenna…

Widely-Linear Digital Self-Interference Cancellation in Full-Duplex USRP Transceiver

This paper first analyzes the power of the SI components under practical conditions and focuses on the most significant one, which is proven to be produced by the I/Q mixer imbalance, and adopts a widely-linear digital SIC approach, which simultaneously deals with the direct SI and its image component caused by theI/Q imbalance.

Joint Digital Self-interference Cancellation in Full-duplex Radios under IQ Imbalance and Transmitter Non-linearity

A joint digital self-interference cancellation scheme is proposed, in which not only the effect of IQ imbalance and power amplifier non-linearity individually, but also the comprehensive function of them are taken into account.

Self-Interference Cancellation in MIMO Full-Duplex Transceivers

The proposed method, DPD cancellation, provides one of the simple signal models that takes into account more of RF impairments, such as PA (Power Amplifier) nonlinearity, LNA (Low Noise Amplifier), DAC (Digital to Analog Converter) non linearities, IQ imbalance at both, transmitter and receiver, and nonlinear crosstalk between the transmitter chains in MIMO-FD systems.

The benefit of combining analog and digital cancellation is highlighted: if the former attenuates interference sufficiently well such that all received signals fit within the limited dynamic range of ADCs, the latter can handle the residual self-interference efficiently.

Analysis of Oscillator Phase-Noise Effects on Self-Interference Cancellation in Full-Duplex OFDM Radio Transceivers

The results show that phase noise has a severe effect on self-interference cancellation in both of the considered cases, and that by using the common oscillator in upconversion and downconversion results in clearly lower residual self- interference levels.
