This study tested the hypothesis that nitric oxide (NO) inhibits the rate-limiting catalytic step in steroidogenesis, cytochrome P450 cholesterol side-chain cleaving enzyme (CYP11A1), independent of soluble guanylyl cyclase (GC-S) stimulation.
