Pachymetra is a root rot disease of sugar cane and it is native to Australia. It is commonly found in sandy to loam soils and can live in the soil up to 4 years which can a have dramatic effect on susceptible varieties. Pachymetra Oospores increase under high rainfall and humidity, which is during the summer months, however they slow during winter months.
