What do fractals learn us concerning the masses of fundamental particles, of hadrons, and of nuclei? Concerning also disintegration life-times?

The hadron spectroscopy is studied through the use of fractals and discrete scale invariance (DSI) implying log-periodic corrections to continuous scaling. The masses of mesons and baryons, reported by the Particle Data Group (PDG), agree with (DSI), as well as the masses of exotic narrow mesons, baryons, and dibaryons. Two distributions are systematically studied: first the log of the masses versus the log of their rank, and also the successive mass ratios. Each fitted parameter of the second…

Systematics of oscillatory behavior in hadronic masses and widths
- Physics
- 2016
A systematic study of hadron masses and widths shows regular oscillations that can be fitted by a simple cosine function. This property can be observed when the difference between adjacent masses of…
Exotic Low Mass Unflavored Mesons: New Data Using Old Measurements
- Physics
- 2014
Existing data exhibit signatures of small peaks, often not commented by the authors. These peaks are tentatively associated to narrow exotic low mass unflavored mesons. Increasing confidence for the…

Fractal Scaling Models of Natural Oscillations in Chain Systems and the Mass Distribution of Particles
- Physics

The origin of particle masses is one of the most important unsolved problems of modern physics. Also the discrete character of the distribution of particle masses is untreated. In this paper we won…
Fractals and log-periodic corrections applied to masses and energy levels of several nuclei
- Physics

A contribution is presented to the application of fractal properties and log-periodic corrections to the masses of several nuclei (isotopes or isotones), and to the energy levels of some nuclei. The…

The Theory of Scale Relativity: Non‐Differentiable Geometry and Fractal Space‐Time
- Physics, Mathematics

The aim of the theory of scale relativity is to derive the physical behavior of a non‐differentiable and fractal space‐time and of its geodesics (with which particles are identified), under the…

Search for low-mass exotic mesonic structures. I. Experimental results
- Physics
- 2008
Recently, several papers have discussed the existence of a new low-mass structure at a mass close to M = 214.3 MeV. It was suggested that the Σ+ disintegration Σ+ → pP 0, P 0 → μ−μ+ proceeds through…
A Bipolar Model of Oscillations in a Chain System for Elementary Particle Masses

The philosophical idea of a bipolar nature (the Chinese “Yin and Yang”) is combined with the mathematical formalism of a fractal scaling model originally published by Müller in this journal. From…
