We approach the question "What is Consciousness?" in a new way, not as Descartes' "systematic doubt", but as how organisms find their way in their world. Finding one's way involves finding possible uses of features of the world that might be beneficial or avoiding those that might be harmful. "Possible uses of X to accomplish Y" are "Affordances". The number of uses of X is indefinite (or unknown), the different uses are unordered and are not deducible from one another. All biological…

Quantum Gravity If Non-Locality Is Fundamental

I take non-locality to be the Michelson–Morley experiment of the early 21st century, assume its universal validity, and try to derive its consequences. Spacetime, with its locality, cannot be

The world is not a theorem

TLDR
It is argued that it is not possible to apply set theory to affordances, therefore it cannot be said that a mathematical theory of affordances and the evolution of the biosphere cannot be devised.

Quantum criticality at the origin of life

TLDR
It is shown that molecules taking part in biochemical processes from small molecules to proteins are critical quantum mechanically and the findings point to the existence of a universal mechanism of charge transport in living matter.
