PURPOSE To determine whether weighing preterm infants before and after breastfeeding ("test weighing") affects maternal confidence and competence. METHODS A longitudinal, repeated measures control group study. Sixty mothers of preterm infants were randomly assigned to a test weight or nontest weight group.
