Weather resistance of wood esterified with dicarboxylic acid anhydrides

Abstract

Materials and methods Wood veneers, each approximately 100 mm (length) x 20 mm (width) • 85 #m (thickness) in size, were cut from the radial faces of Scots pine (Pinus sylvestris L.) sapwood blocks. Batches of 40 veneers, weighing approximately 3 g, were refluxed in acetone(4):ethanol(1):toluene(1) for 4 h, dried in an oven at 105 + 2 ~ and weighed. Batches… (More)
