The apparent magnetic susceptibility, KA, of a uniformly magnetized body, such as a magnetic domain, mineral grain, rock unit, or rock formation, depends upon both the intrinsic magnetic ^usceptbility, K, of the magnetic material and the demagnetizing factor, N, associated with the shape of the body. This relationship, in tensor form, is which, for isotropic K and N, reduces to the scalar relation K KA=1+KN Both K and N may be either isotropic or anisotropic.
