This paper analyses the wavelength assignment problem in optical WDM networks. First, the random wavelength assignment algorithm is compared with the first-fit wavelength assignment algorithm, later, the sparse wavelength conversion case is compared with no wavelength conversion and full wavelength conversion cases.
