This article shows that suitably transmitted and processed, radar waveforms based on Golay sequences provide new primitives for adaptive transmission that enable better detection and finer resolution, while managing computational complexity at the receiver. The ability to exploit space-time adaptive processing is limited by the computational power available at the receiver, and increased flexibility on transmission only exacerbates this problem unless the waveforms are properly designed to…
Golay Complementary Waveform Design for Enhanced Doppler Resolution
TLDR
The effectiveness of this pointwise thresholding processor (PTP) in terms of better Doppler resolution than conventional design of Golay complementary waveforms is proved by simulating and analyzing the output Delay-Doppler maps.
Sequence set design for waveform-agile coherent radar systems
TLDR
This paper presents two algorithms for constructing unimodular sequence sets under the constant module constraint with desired minimized sidelobes on a predefined area of range-Doppler plane based on singular value decomposition (SVD) and cyclic algorithm (CA).
A novel approach for designing diversity radar waveforms that are orthogonal on both transmit and receive
TLDR
This research is focused on developing sets of waveforms that are orthogonal on both transmit and receive, and ensuring that these waveforms are Doppler tolerant when properly processed by incorporating direct sequence spread spectrum (DSSS) coding techniques on linear frequency modulated (LFM) signals.
Biologically Inspired Processing of Radar Waveforms for Enhanced Delay-Doppler Resolution
TLDR
An approach to the processing of radar signals motivated by the neural processing of echolocation waveforms by certain species of bats is studied and a transmission strategy and a corresponding family of processing algorithms are proposed.
Joint optimisation of transmit waveform and receive filter for cognitive radar
TLDR
This study considers the problem of joint transmit waveform and receive filter design for cognitive radar and proposes an iterative algorithm waveform employed for target detection by maximising the average signal-to-interference-plus-noise ratio of the received echo to ensure the TIR estimation precision.

A scheme of multiple-input and multiple (MIMO) synthetic aperture radar (SAR) with MIMO configuration with multiple antennas in azimuth and orthogonal waveform diversity for ground moving targets detection is proposed.
Adaptive waveform design for detecting distributed target in heavy sea clutter
Heavy sea clutter seriously depresses the detection of distributed target. In this paper, an adaptive PM waveform design method with evaluation factor is proposed to suppress clutter energy and
Nearly orthogonal, doppler tolerant waveforms and signal processing for multi-mode radar applications
TLDR
This research investigates the design and analysis of nearly orthogonal, Doppler tolerant waveforms for diversity waveform radar applications and presents a signal processing framework for joint synthetic aperture radar (SAR) and ground moving target indication (GMTI) processing that is built upon the proposed waveforms.

A Simple Signal Processing Architecture for Instantaneous Radar Polarimetry
TLDR
A new radar primitive is described that enables instantaneous radar polarimetry at essentially no increase in signal processing complexity and avoids the information loss inherent in single-channel matched filters.
Signal processing and waveform selection strategies in multistatic radar systems
TLDR
This work uses optimal selection of weights for fusing signals from multiple receivers with waveform selection strategies in order to meet desired performance goals and demonstrates that multistatic system performances can be significantly improved when selection of system parameters is based on shaping of theMultistatic ambiguity function.
MIMO Radar Ambiguity Functions
TLDR
Overall resolution performance is shown to be governed by a space-time covariance function that can be controlled by the system on transmit using waveform diversity, and visual examples are provided to illustrate the resolution enhancement possible using MIMO technology.
Space-time adaptive processing: a knowledge-based perspective for airborne radar
TLDR
This article provides a brief review of radar space-time adaptive processing from its inception to state-of-the art developments, focusing on signal processing for radar systems using multiple antenna elements that coherently process multiple pulses.

The general theory of side-looking synthetic aperture radar systems is developed. A simple circuit-theory model is developed; the geometry of the system determines the nature of the prefilter and the
