Abstract Proton conductors based on phosphoric or phosphonic acid are considered very promising, due to their high charge carrier concentration, thermal stability and oxidation resistivity of the protogenic group. In the present work we have investigated well-characterized poly(vinylphosphonic acid) (PVPA).
