Certain classes of higher dimensional models suggest that the Casimir effect is a candidate for the cosmological constant. In this paper we demonstrate that a sufficiently advanced civilization could, in principal, manipulate the radius of the extra dimension to locally adjust the value of the cosmological constant. This adjustment could be tuned to generate an expansion/contraction of spacetime around a spacecraft creating an exotic form of field-propulsion. Due to the fact that spacetime…
Casimir energy and the possibility of higher dimensional manipulation
It is well known that the Casimir effect is an excellent candidate for the stabilization of the extra dimensions. It has also been suggested that the Casimir effect in higher dimensions may be the
Hyper-Fast Positive Energy Warp Drives
Solitons in space–time capable of transporting time-like observers at superluminal speeds have long been tied to violations of the weak, strong, and dominant energy conditions of general relativity.
Putting the Warp into Warp Drive
Over the last decade, there has been a respectable level of scientific interest regarding the concept of a warp drive. This is a hypothetical propulsion device that could theoretically circumvent the
Breaking the warp barrier: hyper-fast solitons in Einstein–Maxwell-plasma theory
Solitons in space-time capable of transporting time-like observers at superluminal speeds have long been tied to violations of the weak, strong, and dominant energy conditions of general relativity.
Investigation into compactified dimensions: Casimir energies and phenomenological aspects
The primary focus of this dissertation is the study of the Casimir effect and the possibility that this phenomenon may serve as a mechanism to mediate higher dimensional stability, and also as a
Holographic Wormhole Drive: Philosophical Breakthrough in FTL 'Warp-Drive' Technology
Skeptics say Faster than light (FTL) space travel is the stuff of Science Fiction, could take 1,000 years and require a Jupiter size mass-energy source to operate superluminal warp drive spaceships.
Project Icarus: Son of Daedalus - Flying Closer To Another Star - A Technical Update And Programme Review
During the 1970s members of the British Interplanetary Society embarked on a landmark theoretical engineering design study to send a probe to Barnard's star. Project Daedalus was a two-stage vehicle
The Role of Speculative Science in Driving Technology
Ideas from speculative fiction have often become reality in decades past or may do so in the near future although most have been inspired from ideas that originated from science in some form. The
View to the Future and Exploration of Our Galaxy
The Andromeda Galaxy (Messier 31 or M31) is the nearest galaxy to the Milky Way, our galaxy. Both are residing within the neighborhood of the galactic cluster, which consists of an assembly of

LETTER TO THE EDITOR: The warp drive: hyper-fast travel within general relativity
It is shown how, within the framework of general relativity and without the introduction of wormholes, it is possible to modify a spacetime in a way that allows a spaceship to travel with an
Inflation from extra dimensions
The radial mode of n extra compact dimensions (the radion, b) can cause inflation in theories where the fundamental gravity scale, M, is smaller than the Planck scale MP. For radion potentials V(b)
Perturbative superluminal censorship and the null energy condition
We argue that “effective” superluminal travel, potentially caused by the tipping over of light cones in Einstein gravity, is always associated with violations of the null energy condition (NEC). This
Contribution of Kaluza-Klein modes to vacuum energy in models with large extra dimensions $&$ the Cosmological constant
In this paper, the generation of topological energy in models with large extra dimensions is investigated. The origin of this energy is attributed to a topological deformation of the standard
