A strict derivation of the Schwarzschild metric, based solely on Newton’s law of free fall and the equivalence principle, is presented. In the light of it, regarding Schwarzschild’s coordinates as representing the point of view of a distant observer resting relative to the source of a centrally symmetric gravitational field, proves illegitimate. Such point of view is better .

Heuristic approach to the Schwarzschild geometry

In this article I present a simple Newtonian heuristic for motivating a weak-field approximation for the spacetime geometry of a point particle. The heuristic is based on Newtonian gravity, the

On the Fluid Model of the Spherically Symmetric Gravitational Field

The radial flow within the frame of analogue hydrodynamic approach to gravitational field with spherical symmetry is reviewed. Such alternative models of gravity, for example the river model of black

Unified Two Dimensional Spacetime for the River Model of Gravity and Cosmology

Within the proposed assumptions, including the existence of the discrete (minimally uncertain) volume of space, the possibility of mapping of Euclidean 3D to 1D space in the spherically symmetric

Near-Horizon Geodesics for Astrophysical and Idealised Black Holes: Coordinate Velocity and Coordinate Acceleration

Geodesics (by definition) have an intrinsic 4-acceleration zero. However, when expressed in terms of coordinates, the coordinate acceleration d 2 x i / d t 2 can very easily be non-zero, and the

Relativistic Mechanics in Gravitational Fields Exterior to Rotating Homogeneous Mass Distributions within Regions of Spherical Geometry

General Relativistic metric tensors for gravitational fields exterior to homogeneous spherical mass distributions rotating with constant angular velocity about a fixed diameter are constructed. The

The river model of black holes

We present a lesser known way to conceptualize stationary black holes, which we call the river model. In this model, space flows like a river through a flat background, while objects move through the

This paper presents a new way to conceptualize stationary black holes, which we call the river model. The river model is mathematically sound, yet simple enough that the basic picture can be

Analogue Gravity

TLDR
The history, aims, results, and future prospects for the various analogue models of gravity are discussed, including a particularly simple example of an analogue model and the rich history and complex tapestry of models discussed in the literature.

The Large Scale Structure of Space-Time

TLDR
The theory of the causal structure of a general space-time is developed, and is used to study black holes and to prove a number of theorems establishing the inevitability of singualarities under certain conditions.

Cosmology, physics, and philosophy

By now we have completed the preliminary part of the course. Now, in contemplating about the proper methodology to be used during the rest of these lectures, we note that the very nature of
