Existing political economy models on pensions focus on age and productivity. In this paper we focus on two other individual characteristics: sex andmarital status. We assume away age (people vote at the start of their life) and thus look at the most preferred rate of taxation that finances a Beveridgean pension of individuals that are characterised by a certain wage rate, sex and marital status.
