Expand
An integrated biostratigraphical analysis of the Volkhov-Kunda (Lower Ordovician) succession at Fagelsang, Scania, Sweden
The Komstad Limestone is composed of dark grey to black micritic limestone deposited in an outer shelf environment on the margin of the East European Platform. It represents an interval of low seaExpand
Darriwilian (Middle Ordovician) worms of southern Sweden
Abstract The record of scolecodonts (polychaete jaws) from the Ordovician of Sweden is very poor. In this paper, we document a Darriwilian (Middle Ordovician) assemblage recovered from palynologicalExpand
Upper silurian (Upper Wenlock‐Lower Pridoli) Chitinozoa and Biostratigraphy of Skåne, Southern Sweden
Abstract Late Silurian (late Wenlock‐early Pridoli) chitinozoans from the Colonus Shale and the Oved‐Ramsasa Group are described from 46 localities in the province of Skane and, in addition, from oneExpand
The boundary between the Silurian Cyrtograptus and Colonus Shales in Skåne, southern Sweden
Abstract After a historical review of the concept of the Cyrtograptus and Colonus Shales and the transition between these units, the rocks exposed in the Ostra Odarslov quarry, east of Lund, areExpand
The sediments of the Floian GSSP: depositional history of the Ordovician succession at Mount Hunneberg, Västergötland, Sweden
The succession at Mt. Hunneberg consists of intercalated siliciclastic mudstones and carbonates of Tremadocian to Floian age. Above an unconformity with underlying Furongian shales, siliciclasticExpand
Ecostratigraphical interpretation of lower Middle Ordovician East Baltic sections based on brachiopods
Abstract A detailed ecostratigraphical framework is established for the lower Middle Ordovician Kundan regional stage of the East Baltic area corresponding to the Asaphus expansus, A. raniceps and A.Expand
Palaeoenvironmental significance of cool‐water microbialites in the Darriwilian (Middle Ordovician) of Sweden
Well-developed oncoids and centimetre-sized stromatolites are reported for the first time from the Darriwilian (Middle Ordovician) cool-water orthoceratite limestone' at Kinnekulle, Vastergotland,Expand
Mollusk maxima and marine events in the Middle Ordovician of Baltoscandia
Except for the scattered cephalopod conchs that have given the rock type its name, mollusk fossils are relatively rare in the Middle Ordovician 'orthoceratite limestone' of Sweden. However, anExpand
The complexity of mudstone diagenesis – some insight from the Tøyen Shale, Lower to Middle Ordovician, southern Sweden
ABSTRACT The Lower to Middle Ordovician Tøyen Shale in southern Sweden, a biostratigraphically well-dated siliciclastic mudstone unit, shows 18 distinct authigenic cements that include sulfides,Expand

The Succession and Correlation of Ostracode Faunas in the Silurian of Gotland
Abstract Palaeocope ostracode faunas in the Siluro-Devonian sequence of Gotland and the submarine Hoburg Bank area enable detailed correlations with ostracode faunas in other areas around the BalticExpand
Isotopic Ages of Minerals from the Pre-Cambrian Complex of the Malverns
THE Malvern Hills, Worcestershire, form one of many Pre-Cambrian inliers of the Welsh Borderland1; rocks of Pre-Cambrian age are divided into Malvernian ‘schists and gneisses’ and the overlyingExpand
Aspects of a Middle Cambrian Thanatotope on Öland
Abstract The Paradoxissimus Siltstone, representing the Middle Cambrian zone with Tomagnostus fissus and Ptychagnostus atavus in the Oland area, was deposited in a bay under the influence of rhythmicExpand

In a vast region in Scandinavia, a monotonous and extremely slow deposition of anaerobic mud persisted through the Late Cambrian. After a long time with no or very little sedimentation, depositionExpand
The isotopic age of the Flathead Sandstone (Middle Cambrian), Montana
The sandstone consists of thick- to thin-bedded, well sorted, clean quartzose and glauconitic sand with thin interbedded red and green fissile shales occurring near the top. Seven samples of theExpand
The Ordovician period
Summary Stratigraphical and palaeontological evidence for the location of the boundaries of the Ordovician System is examined and considered to be less important than historical priority, so that theExpand
Determination of Mean Sediment Thickness in the Crust: A Sedimentologic Method
Mean sediment thickness, volume of detntal quartz, and grain size distribution of dctrital quartz have been calculated for the total sediment mass of the earth's crust. Sedimentologic andExpand
Basic data on the age of the boundaries between certain geological systems and epochs
Many K-Ar ages have been accumulated in the world's geochronologidal laboratories but, as different decay constants are used in various countries for calculation of the formulae, it is difficult toExpand
