PURPOSE To develop an optimization method using volumetric modulated arc therapy (VMAT) and evaluate VMAT plans relative to the standard intensity-modulated radiotherapy (IMRT) approach in prostate cancer. METHODS AND MATERIALS A single gantry rotation was modeled using 177 equispaced beams.
