Abstract A new volumetric accuracy analysis method in multi-axis machine tools is developed based on the generalized geometric error models. The models of translation and rotational errors of each axis, and squareness errors between two axes are derived by using 4∗4 homogeneous transformation matrices based on the assumption of small angle approximation.
